Brighton Rocks to the Sound of the GUKPT
No sooner has the dust settled on a highly successful 2008 GUKPT than the new year welcomes in a brand new tour.
The 2009 GUKPT got underway at Brighton’s Grosvenor casino on the 12th January with a £200 freezeout. Matt Perrins took down the taster tournament, bagging £9,210. The four-day £1,000 main event tees off at 2pm on Thursday 15th. Last year Julian Thew walked away with top honours in this event, while Nik Persaud made the first of his three 2008 main event final tables. Both are sure to be present and correct for the first in a tour that consistently attracts the cream of the UK scene.
For Day 1a and 1b of the main event, players will start with 10,000 chip stacks and enjoying 1-hour blinds. The final table will kick off on Sunday 18th January, where players will contest the serious money where 1st prize is likely to be in the region of £160,000. Ice creams all round!
